Safety cable for abrasive blast hoses

A safety cable is used for abrasive blast hoses in case of spontaneous separation of hose couplings. The cable releases the clutches from the load associated with the weight of the sleeves and reduces the likelihood of spontaneous separation of the clutches. In addition, it keeps pressurized hoses from chaotic movement in the event of spontaneous disengagement of the clutches.
Spontaneous separation of clutches can occur for the following reasons:
• Clutch screws lose their function due to abrasive wear of the inner surface of the abrasive blast hose;
• The use of the wrong screws may prevent a good connection between the sleeve and the clutch;
• The outside diameter of the sleeve is small for the applied clutch;
• Damage to hoses when dragging equipment by hoses;
• Damage to sleeves and clutches when they are moved by vehicles or other equipment.
Safety wires are required if blast hoses are hanging down when working at height as hose couplings are not designed
